Actively explore the Dübener Heide

Experience the picturesque landscape of the Düben Heath up close, for example on a hike. Numerous hiking trails crisscross the heath landscape for 500 kilometers. If you prefer to go by bike, you will also find some beautiful cycling routes through the nature park with its hilly landscape shaped by the ice age. You can also discover the Dübener Heide from the water: numerous lakes and rivers invite you to take a paddle or sailing tour.

In addition to the unique nature of the Dübener Heide, the "Heidemagneten" also attract visitors to the nature park. The heath magnets are points of attraction of various kinds, from spas to regional heath gastronomy to enchanted castles. These include, for example, the spas of Bad Düben and Bad Schmiedeberg, which are particularly appealing with their small, cozy downtowns, but also with their wellness offerings. In the cozy heath villages, traditions and regional customs are still kept alive today. With the "Kursächsische Botenreitern", mill days, nature park festivals, fishing festivals and much more, the calendar of events in the Dübener Heide is full to bursting throughout the year.

Bad Schmiedeberg

The pretty mud, mineral and Kneipp spa Bad Schmiedeberg is located about 30 kilometers southeast of Lutherstadt Wittenberg and is characterized by historical sights, idyllic nature, great recreational opportunities and a variety of health offers. There is something for young and old.

In addition to the Kneipp therapy center Bad Schmiedeberg, there is also a lot to see here. The spa promenade with the beautiful spa house and spa garden invites you to stroll and relax. A special attraction is of course the market square, but also the lookout tower Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm and the Nikolaikirche are worth a visit. In the villages of the municipality there are many other pretty churches, including the only well-preserved Elbschifferkirche Priesitz, the town church or the church Muero. You would rather feel like a member of the Adesl? No problem, the former royal residence castle Pretzsch takes you back to the time of the monarchy. Or why not visit the 17th century Reinharz moated castle and stroll through the beautifully landscaped castle park.

For the sporty guests there are various terrain spa trails, a climbing park and the Heidespa. Skaters, sailors, surfers and bathing enthusiasts will get their money's worth at the Goitzsche Landscape Park. Another great place to cool off in nature is the "Blaues Auge" lake. Against a picturesque backdrop and surrounded by trees, you can experience great and relaxing bathing days here.

Bad Düben

The lovingly restored old town of the spa town of Bad Düben invites you to stroll and relax. Many historic buildings shine here today again in old splendor. Visit, for example, the highest building in the city, the St. Nikolai Church from the 12th century or the plague gate from the 16th century at the cemetery.

There are also beautiful destinations around the old town that you should not miss during a visit. For example, the moor spa is home to Düben Castle with the local history museum located inside. In particular, the keep from the year 1206 with the witch's cellar as well as the extensive castle park and the mountain ship mill are worth a detour. A little further out is the picturesquely situated Schnaditz moated castle. A special natural spectacle can be found just outside the city on the banks of the Mulde River: the Red Bank. The reddish steep bank offers a beautiful view, a lot of peace and beautiful walks through the Dübener Heide.

More heather magnets

As already mentioned, for example, the Reinharz moated castle, reminiscent of an enchanted fairy-tale castle, is a popular destination in the Dübener Heide. For an excursion with children, the heath magnet Eilenburg offers itself. Here you will find an animal park as well as the high and low ropes course Rubiconpark - and maybe you will discover one of Eilenburg's resident Brownies. You can find a little cooling off at the Bergwitzsee in Kemberg, among other places. The clear, clean water attracts numerous water sports enthusiasts every summer to the lake, which is beautifully situated by the forest. At all locations of the Heidemagneten you will find information boards with interesting facts about the sights. In addition, most of the destinations are located on one or more circular hiking trails through the Dübener Heide, which you can cover on foot or by bike.
