The Renaissance Music Festival

"The elector dances"
The festival's anniversary from 19 to 28 September 2025 will also celebrate Frederick the Wise Reason to celebrate! 500 years of Frederick the Wise and 20 years of the Wittenberg Renaissance Music Festival: this double anniversary will be honoured in Lutherstadt under the motto ‘The Elector dances’. Twelve concerts, the historical dance ball, the popular musical city walk, the traditional instrument exhibition and the second choir festival ‘Wittenberg sings’, to which all choirs from Wittenberg and the surrounding area are once again invited, will delight audiences from near and far. This includes the only complex workshop programme for Renaissance music in Germany with fifteen courses for instrumental playing, singing and dancing. In its anniversary edition, the festival will once again present varied programmes and top-class guests at authentic venues, including the renowned lautten compagney BERLIN, the lutenist Nigel North, the flautist Johanna Bartz with her ensemble astrophil & stella, the sisters Johanna and Elisabeth Seitz as well as the French guitarist and lutenist Amandine Affagard and Gaby Bultmann with the Cöllner Compagney. The host, the Wittenberg Court Chapel, also presents the festival with an entertaining concert evening and, together with its youth ensemble, the Praetorius Consort Wittenberg, invites you on a musical walk through the city. After opening music in the castle church, you can rediscover Lutherstadt with open ears and eyes! While you explore the original sites of the Reformation, guests can enjoy the impressive sound of historical instruments.

Tickets and the programme for the festival will be available soon.
