Luther's wedding

On June 13, 1525, Martin Luther married Katharina von Bora in Wittenberg. Katharina had previously fled from a convent. Every year in June, Lutherstadt Wittenberg celebrates this event. The market takes place on the historic market square in the town of Wittenberg. The pottery market begins on Saturday at 10.00 am with the entry of the potters. Reformation festival

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther is said to have hung a note on the door of the castle church. The note contained 95 reasons against the sale of indulgences. Some also call it the 95 theses. The day is considered the beginning of the Reformation of the church. Today, Reformation Day is a public holiday for Protestant Christians. In Lutherstadt Wittenberg, festive services and church celebrations are held on this day.

Christmas market and Advent courtyards
