The Science Center
What do hunger in the Third World, the environmental compatibility of trucks, daily dental care or the artificial production of natural substances have to do with Wittenberg's historic marketplace? All these things are closely examined behind the walls of the historic science centerand can be explored in a playful way. On the west side of the market square, the futurea Science Center creates a picture of modern chemistry that may surprise some people: concrete, imaginative, amazing in its presentation. Here you can not only see with your eyes, but also with your hands. Technical and scientific correlations are presented in a simple and vivid way - with playful experiments, computer-aided touchscreens and moving images. A tour takes visitors around the various floors through eight themed worlds.
The exhibition
On three floors, you can interactively explore the latest developments in chemistry at the futurea Science Center. On the first floor, the exhibition areas focus on the topic of nutrition. Here you can find out how chemistry has revolutionized agriculture, for example. The second floor is dedicated to plants and elements. The second floor is dedicated to a topic that may seem rather daunting at first: urea, which is produced in the Piesteritz nitrogen plants, among others. The highlight is probably the detailed model of SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz, where you can see the entire production chain.
