The building
You certainly haven't seen a school like this before! The curved shapes, the green roof and the bright colors characterize the face of the Luther-Melanchthon-Gymnasium in a unique way. The building was rebuilt in the 1990s according to plans by the famous artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser and completed in 1999. If you are looking for a special place in Wittenberg away from the Reformation, you will find it here! Inside the school, you can find out more about the history of the building in the information room and take home a souvenir or two.

The origin
At the beginning of the 1990s, pupils in art lessons thought about how the existing school building could be made more attractive for pupils. The pupils' designs were all reminiscent of the buildings designed by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Without further ado, the school decided to contact the well-known artist. And indeed: Hundertwasser personally drew up the plans for the exterior façade of the building, which were implemented in exactly the same way during the renovation phase. The interior of the school is also reminiscent of Hundertwasser's typical art style, but here the pupils and other artists were allowed to immortalize themselves in this style. This renovation has created a place where the pupils enjoy spending time and which is also absolutely worth seeing.
