Leucorea back then
Today, the Leucorea is part of the University of Halle-Wittenberg, reviving the old tradition of a student campus for learning and research. At the time of the Reformation, the Leucorea was the seat of the Electoral Saxon State University and thus one of the most renowned universities in Germany. Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon already worked at this historic site and played a decisive role in making Wittenberg the most visited university in the empire for a time.
Leucorea today
Today, the Leucorea has once again become an important research location under the public law foundation at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. The historic premises of the Leucorea can also be used as a conference center. In addition, scientific events of national and international character take place on an ongoing basis.
