Wittenberg English Ministry
Beginning May 1 through October 31 pastors lead English language worship services in Lutherstadt Wittenberg
The “Wittenberg English Ministry” was founded in the summer of 1996 by Rev. Keith Loesch. It started out in 1997 as a ten week series led by five pastors from the USA. It was then expanded in 1998 to cover the six month tourist season beginning in May and ending in October. The WEM has had more than 250 Lutheran pastors from the USA, Canada, and Australia leading worship. WEM is a Lutheran ministry with the intent of serving the body of Christ. WEM seeks to enable people to worship Christ in a way that people from all Christian backgrounds can worship Christ in Luther’s Church.
The “Wittenberg English Ministry” offers worship opportunities for English speaking visitors to Lutherstadt at the Castle Church (Schlosskirche) and the Town Church (Stadtkirche). Lutheran Pastors lead the worship service and provide the sermon.
Since the services are in English, they attract many people from around the world. The past has shown that these services are very positively received and are well attended.
For the past few years extensive renovations at both the Town and the Castle churches were completed. You will enjoy the renewed grandeur in each of these historic places of worship.
Specially scheduled services are available for tour groups by specific request. Send an email to the WEM USA office or the WEM office at Wittenberg Information.
